Don’t you hate it when you come back to your car from shopping and you find a nice big chip taken out of the paint, or road rash from a tire across your bumper? It’s a very angering experience and there’s not much to be done about it except deal with the damage.
That’s the situation that happened to this customer’s brand new white Ford Fiesta ST. Unable to know exactly what happened, it looks as though a tire rubbed up against the front bumper. Without film, this would have been a very unlucky experience. The new white paint would have been damaged with scuff marks staining and possibly scuffing the surface to the point of no repair. The old joke of “that will buff out” probably wouldn’t apply here. Luckily, the owner covered their car with PPF.
As you can see in this series of photographs, the damage was quite extensive. You can see where the rubber from the tire moved up along the side of the bumper leaving a sizable scuff mark. Without film, this would have most definitely broken the paint’s bond to the plastic bumper leaving the unsightly black plastic underneath. Our PPF is one of the most durable on the market. By creating a film with a stretch rate of 543%, we were able stop the penetration of debris and make the film much more tear resistant. This bumper being a perfect example of that.
As seen in the photos, with nothing more than heat from a heat gun, the film and consequent damage is removed from the car to reveal, untouched, perfect paint underneath.
Film being peeled back.
